Style Edit

I recently got sent a couple of gorgeous pairs of shoes from Style Edit* who sell amazing shoes for such affordable prices.

The first pair is these stunning black platforms. Black heels are a staple because you can wear them with basically anything. The heels are about 5 inches but the platform makes it so much easier to walk in them!

In this outfit, I paired them with a coral shift dress from NaaNaa, the statement 'Galaxy' necklace from RaRa de Barr and a simple black bag from Jane Norman.

The second pair is these beautiful sparkly blue heels. They have a smaller heel (4 inches) as there is no platform and the glitter just adds that extra something to make them more special. They are perfect for around the festive season or any other time you want to dress up a bit more. They remind me a bit of a blue version of Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz which is not a bad thing haha!

The Tartan Skirt

I have been eyeing up a few tartan skirts for quite a while but never found the right one. That is until I got this one from Modekungen. It is quite short so I would probably not wear it out without black tights but I still love it.

In this outfit, I paired the skirt with a plain black vest top, black cardigan and small black bag. I got the bag from Her Fashion Box a few months ago and it is perfect for taking out as it is just big enough for a phone, lipstick and some money.

I also wore my Shu Sole 6" cleated platforms to go out but if you aren't brave enough for those or don't want to be wearing them for a long period during the day, I also found black lace up boots which look nice too.

DIY Lipbalm

One of my friends gave me a 'make your own lipbalm kit' from Sweet Cecily's for Christmas which contains everything you need to make 5 little pots of strawberry, mint or unscented lipbalm. I made them the other day and thought I would share how!

The kit contains shea butter, beeswax, almond and calendula oil, cocoa butter and flavouring (my kit contained strawberry flavouring). You also need a bowl, a saucepan of boiling water and something to stir with like a fork or a whisk.

The first thing to do is mix the solid ingredients together (shea butter, beeswax and cocoa butter).

Next, put them in a bowl over water and heat until they are all melted.

Then add the bottle of almond and calendula oil and mix well.

When this has melted in and it is all mixed together, take it off the heat and add the flavouring.

Mix well again and pour it into the tins that come in the set. I did this using a teaspoon because it was easier and it needs to be done quickly as it sets fast!

The kit comes with labels and I really didn't know what to put on mine but this is how they turned out :)
