Casual Spring OOTD

As the weather in the UK is finally getting warmer, cosy jumpers and scarves are out!   However it's still not warm enough for shorts so I thought I'd show you what I wore today, on a casual day shopping and doing other jobs that needed to be done :)

Jeans - Topshop
{featured in my last haul}
Shoes - Rocket Dog
{not available on the website any more}

I think this outfit is perfect for when you're going somewhere that you don't really have to dress up for as it's super casual and comfy :)  I just straightened my hair and left it down with the fringe pinned back and kept jewellery minimal.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed! x

Leopard print nail tutorial

I love doing leopard print nails, they're so simple to do and I think they look really nice too so I thought I'd show you how I do them :)

First step is always to apply a base coat to protect your nails and prevent staining.  I used Sally Hansen's 'one coat instant strength'. (Not sure why my hand looks so red in this photo haha)

Next paint your nails gold or another light colour that you would like the base of your leopard print to be.  I used No.7 lasting nail enamel in 'Midas touch'.  Make sure that the colour is opaque, it may take multiple coats.

After this just blob a few dots on your nails using the brush that comes with the nail polish.  They don't have to be perfect circles :)  I tried to make mine look as much like leopard print as possible so I used a dark brown colour for this step but you can use any colour you want.  I used No 7 lasting nail enamel in 'caramelised copper'.

Next, outline each dots with two brackets or 'C' shapes.  It looks best if the two brackets don't meet but it doesn't really matter if they do :)  To do this I used my black 'nails supreme' nail art pen but if you don't have any then you can use a dotting tool, bobby pin or toothpick dipped in polish.

Using the same nail polish and tool that you used to outline the large dots, paint smaller dots in the gaps. You can do as many or as little as you want until you think it looks good, and remember that these don't have to be perfect circles either! :)

Now all you have to do is finish off with a topcoat to make the design last longer and you're done :)  I hope you enjoyed and that you try it out! Thanks for reading x

Hair care routine

About three years ago I had my hair cut to my shoulders and I hated it so ever since then I've been growing it out.  It's now pretty long and I think it's in quite good condition haha so I thought I'd share my hair care routine :)  I don't use many products as I find it weighs my hair down and most of them are unnecessary anyway.

I wash my hair every other day and usually use shampoo/conditioner for dry/damaged hair.  Even though mine isn't dry or damaged, it has been bleached and dyed a lot in the past so it's good for the added moisture that these types of shampoo give your hair.  At the moment I'm using Herbal Essences 'Hello Hydration'.  If you flip your hair upside down and massage it into the scalp it is supposed to stimulate your hair follicles and make it grow faster.  I only apply the conditioner to the bottom 2/3 of my hair to avoid it building up at the roots and making my hair look greasy.

About once a week (when I remember) I use this organic moroccan argan oil restorative treatment which is basically a deep conditioner that you leave on for 5 minutes and then wash out.  It makes my hair super soft and I love it but I am forever forgetting to use it haha.

After I've washed my hair, I brush it through with a wide toothed comb.  Your hair is easily damaged when it's wet which is why it's best to use a wide toothed comb rather than a regular brush.  Also, brush starting from the bottom and work your way up to prevent knots forming. I then spray Tresemmé heat protection spray all over and brush through again to evenly distribute it through my hair.

Another product I use after this is moroccan argan oil.  This is a miracle product, it makes my hair feel so soft and look really healthy.  I apply a small amount to the bottom half of my hair, focusing on the ends.

If I know I will be styling my hair properly when I'm going out somewhere nice for example, I will apply the Bumble and Bumble thickening spray although my hair is quite thick already so I don't usually bother with this step on an everyday basis.

I try not to use too much heat on my hair so I usually wash my hair at night to avoid blow drying it.  Since my hair is thick it takes quite a while to dry though so I occasionally have to blow dry it slightly to get rid of the worst of the moisture.  Then I'll either leave it loose or put it in a loose plait to keep it out of the way overnight.  And that's my hair care routine! I am not an expert in any of this it's just what's worked for me :) Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed :)

Also sorry for the lighting in the photos, the weather was awful today! x

Milton Keynes haul

Hi! As I said in my last post, I've been doing a lot of shopping recently.
Last weekend I went to Milton Keynes and bought a few things that I thought I'd show you :)

The first place we went to was Topshop and I got these Leigh jeans.  They are super soft and comfy and I know I will be wearing them a lot over the spring time.

Next we went to Lush and it is literally impossible for me to go in there and not buy anything.  I would buy everything if I could but I limited myself to three things.

The first thing I got from Lush was the bubblegum lip scrub since I had run out.  It is such an amazing product, it makes your lips super soft and it smells and tastes really good too!

I also picked up the comforter bubble bar and godmother soap, both of which smelt too amazing to resist!

Next stop was Hollister for some body mists because they smell a-m-a-z-i-n-g.  There isn't a Hollister near me so I have to stock up whenever I visit Milton Keynes.  This time I got salana beach which is my all time favourite, crescent bay and the 'seasonal edition' one :)

After this we stopped off at H&M.  I was tempted by a lot of clothes but in the end just picked up this lip pen in the colour Honeysuckle and I'm so glad I did.  Its a gorgeous colour, really pigmented and it leaves your lips feeling moisturised too :)

Finally, we popped into Hotel Chocolat in the hope of picking up some caramel buttons because they are so amazing.  Unfortunately they only had the mini ones in this 'tiddly pot' but they taste just as good and are really cute haha.

That's all I bought in Milton Keynes, hope you enjoyed reading!  Prices and links to everything I bought are below if you want to check them out yourself :)

Topshop jeans £38
Lush lip scrub £5.50
Lush bubble bar £4.50
Lush soap £3.10 per 100g
Hollister body mist £12 each / 3 for £24
H&M lip pen £2.99
Hotel Chocolat caramel buttons £2

The Body Shop hair chalk

Hi! I have being doing quite a lot of shopping recently, and on my last trip I picked up this blue hair chalk from The Body Shop.  It is £5 but it is on an introductory offer of buy one get one half price at the minute, and as me and my friend both bought one we only paid £3.75 each.  There are two colours, this blue one and also a pink one.  I found that the pink didn't show up as well on my hair as the blue one which is why I chose to get this one instead :)

I have dyed my hair a lot but recently my school became strict about hair colour and now we are only allowed 'natural' coloured hair.  This obviously rules out blue then haha.  This chalk washes out with just one wash though so it is perfect for weekends as it will be gone by the time school starts again.

To show you how I used it, I straightened my hair and brought a section forward since it is more manageable to work in smaller sections.  It recommends you put a towel around you shoulders too but I skipped that step, oops.

Then all you have to do to use it is place the piece of hair you want to colour between your thumb and the chalk and move the chalk down your hair.

This photo shows how pigmented the chalk is after just one stroke on the hair, it becomes a lot brighter if you repeat the steps multiple times on the same section of hair.

Spray with hairspray and it should last a few hours! Since it is super pigmented, it works on brown hair as well as blonde, I would recommend trying it out in store before you buy it if you have quite dark hair though just to make sure it shows up :)

Dripping paint nail tutorial!

Hi! I posted a photo on Instagram a few days ago and a lot of you asked how I did my nails in it so I thought I would make a tutorial to show you!

This is the finished design, so if you want to know how to do it then keep reading :)

1) Paint your nails with a clear base coat.  This will help to protect your natural nails and prevent staining.  I used Sally Hansen's 'one coat instant strength'.

2) Paint your nails opaque white - or another base colour of your choice, the top colour will stand out more if you use white though.  This usually takes two coats, depending on the polish you use.  I used Maybellines colour show in the shade 'Winter Baby'.

3) Paint 3-4 dots in different places along your nail and connect them with curved lines. You can do this using a dotting tool or nail art pen if you have them and if not then just use a bobby pin dipped in polish or an old liquid eyeliner brush.  Repeat this step on each nail.  I chose to do each nail a different colour but you can choose whatever colours you want :)

4)  Finally, fill in the tips of the nails with the same colour polish that you did the dots in and that's it!  Just complete with a top coat to make the design last longer and you're done :)

I hope you enjoyed this and will maybe try it out! Thanks for reading :)

Q&A

Hi! For my first post I thought I would do a Q&A since a lot of you requested it, so I'll be answering some of the questions you asked on Instagram :)

pastel_bows If you woke up late and only had time to do your hair or make up, which one would you choose and why?
Definitely make up! I hate going out with no make up on but I don't mind so much about my hair, it would be easy enough to put it in a plait or something when I'm out :)

pastelandpink_xox Bronzer or blush? Foundation or concealer?
Blush, I'm really pale so a bit of colour is good for me haha, and concealer because it's better for covering up dark circles/blemishes.

theperks0fbeingemily If you could take 3 things, 3 people and 3 music tracks to a desert island for a month, what would they be?
This question is so hard! The three things I take would be my phone because I can't live without that, my dog for the same reason and a boat so we can get away quicker or is that cheating.. 3 people would be my best friend to keep me company, my mum because she could solve any problem and Bear Grylls to help us survive haha! 3 music tracks would be 'on top of the world' by imagine dragons because that song cheers me up no matter what, 'chocolate' by the 1975 and 'smile' by mcfly because they would keep everyone's spirits up and they're such good songs :)

fl0ralamber favourite make up brand?
I love maybelline for mascaras and their colour tattoos are amazing too, Rimmel for foundation/powder and Sleek for blush :)

verityapk If you could only use one piece of makeup for ever what would it be?
Probably collection's lasting perfection or maybelline the falsies mascara, they're both amazing!

fabart07 fave season and why? favourite nail polish brand?
Winter is my favourite season because I love cosy jumpers and fires and hot chocolate and all that, and also because I love everything to do with Christmas! My favourite nail polish brand is Barry M, they do so many colours and they're really good quality :)

chauencbc02 3 favourite stores to shop at?
I have basically all of my clothes for 6th form from Jane Norman so that would definitely be one of them, Boots because that's where I buy most of my make up etc, and Lush because even though I don't get to go there very often, I still manage to buy practically the whole shop whenever I do.

I'm going to leave it at that so I don't bore you all.  Hope you enjoyed my first post and thank you to everyone who asked me questions! :)
